I’m going to France next week and will be staying in Paris. I was wondering if anyone knows of good places to go sight seeing and shopping?

Have you considered buying a guidebook?

If you’re into the arts(museums and such), the site below gives you the Map of Monuments & Museums of Paris:

http://www.paris.org/Maps/MM/
(do not miss Musee D’Orsay. If you’ve got more time, the Louvre takes like 3 days to view in its entirety but you can do it in a day if you’re not staying that long. Of course, don’t forget the Eiffel tower – you can’t miss it)

For shopping you are so in for a treat, Paris is such a shopping center – it isn’t called the fashion center of the world for nothing, in fact if you do visit, “the ultimate haute high is browsing the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, home to Dior, Versace, Gaultier and Yves Saint-Laurent.” Okay, that made my head spin a bit…

Now if you wanna go a bit mainstream, you should check out the two most famous department stores in Paris: “Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, may be found side-by-side on Boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arrondissement, carrying designer, brand name and private label merchandise.”

Of course shopping ain’t complete without a visit to the flea market for those vintage finds, you should visit:

“Saint Ouen Flea Market (Porte de Clignancourt, 18th arrondissement ) provides a map of the sprawling complex and permits virtual windowshopping of its merchants’ wares. The other major markets may be found at Porte de Vanves (14th) and Porte de Montreuil (20th).”

The two other links below can help you a bit more with shopping.

Hope that helped! You’re so lucky you’re going to Paris!
